Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island — 2 nights

The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park draws visitors with its rugged landscape of ocean shoreline, low-slung granite mountains, dense woodlands, and pristine lakes.
Step off the beaten path and head to Thunder Hole and Sand Beach. Step out of the city life by going to Champlain Mountain & Beehive Loop Trail and Heart of Acadia Loop. There's still lots to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Carriage Roads, explore the activities along Jordan Pond Path Trailhead, and trek along Great Head Trail.

Oklahoma City to Acadia National Park is an approximately 8.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, taxi, and car. With coastline on the west, south, and east, Newport is a maritime city with a rich history.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Fri): steep yourself in history at Rough Point Museum, appreciate the extensive heritage of Cliff Walk, and then contemplate the long history of Fort Adams State Park. On your second day here, explore and take pictures at Lizzie Borden House and then meet the residents at Roger Williams Park Zoo.
