Kick off your visit on the 4th (Wed): make a trip to Taos County Courthouse Murals, appreciate the history behind Vietnam Veterans Memorial, then admire the masterpieces at Millicent Rogers Museum, then snap pictures at Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, and finally make a trip to Taos Pueblo. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for all kinds of wild species at Wild Rivers Recreation Area, soar above the sights with a balloon tour, and then admire all the interesting features of High Road to Taos.

Traveling by car from Artesia to Taos takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and flight. In September, Taos is slightly colder than Artesia - with highs of 76°F and lows of 44°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Thu) early enough to drive to Santa Fe.

Traveling by car from Taos to Santa Fe takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from Taos in September since evenings lows in Santa Fe dip to 52°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
