Albuquerque remains one of the state's secret jewels, as its tourist attractions are often overshadowed by the more popular holiday destination of Santa Fe.
Family-friendly places like Explora Science Center and Children's Museum of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Biological Park will thrill your kids. Get out of town with these interesting Albuquerque side-trips: Bandelier National Monument (in Los Alamos) and Socorro (Mineralogical Museum & National Radio Astronomy Observatory). Next up on the itinerary: get to know the fascinating history of Albuquerque Old Town, look for gifts at The Candy Lady, examine the collection at New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society, and get to know the resident critters at ABQ BioPark Zoo.

For photos, ratings, other places to visit, and other tourist information, you can read our Albuquerque travel route planner.

Santa Fe continuously ranks among the world's top holiday destinations, attracting visitors with its unusual combination of scenic beauty, rich history, cultural diversity, and high concentration of performing arts venues, fine restaurants, and interesting attractions.
Venture out of the city with trips to Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (in Taos), Bradbury Science Museum (in Los Alamos) and Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument (in Cochiti Pueblo). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Loretto Chapel, examine the collection at Museum of International Folk Art, admire the masterpieces at Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, and don't miss a visit to Santa Fe Plaza.
