In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
You'll get in some beach time at Waikiki Beach and Sunset Beach Park. Attractions like Diamond Head State Monument and Waimea Bay make great kid-friendly stops. Venture out of the city with trips to Pupukea Beach Park (in Haleiwa) and Lanikai Beach (in Kailua). Next up on the itinerary: explore the activities along Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, get interesting insight from Kaimana Divers, surround yourself with nature on Oahu Diving, and take in the dramatic scenery at Manoa Falls.

New York City to Honolulu is an approximately 14-hour combination of bus and flight. You can also fly. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Hawaii Standard Time is minus 5 hours. Traveling from New York City in March, expect Honolulu to be much hotter, temps between 81°F and 68°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) so you can travel back home.
