Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sun): enjoy breathtaking views from Space Needle, then explore the world behind art at Chihuly Garden and Glass, and then stroll through Kerry Park. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at The Museum of Flight, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Seattle Aquarium, and then wander the streets of Pike Place Market.

Columbus to Seattle is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus, taxi, and flight; or drive. Traveling from Columbus to Seattle, you'll gain 3 hours due to the time zone difference. In April in Seattle, expect temperatures between 61°F during the day and 46°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Astoria.

Astoria, named for famed fur trader John Jacob Astor, resides near the mouth of the Columbia River.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Tue): pause for some photo ops at Astoria Column, immerse yourself in nature at Ecola State Park, and then kick back and relax at Cannon Beach. Keep things going the next day: explore the activities along Columbia River Maritime Museum, appreciate the history behind Chief Comcomly Memorial, then immerse yourself in nature at Fort Stevens State Park, and finally snap pictures at Astoria-Megler Bridge.

You can drive from Seattle to Astoria in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, taxi, and bus; or do a combination of flight and bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 58°F, and evening lows to 43°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) so you can go by car to Newport.

On the 2nd (Thu), visit a coastal fixture at Yaquina Head Lighthouse, identify plant and animal life at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, and then take a leisurely stroll along Newport's Historic Bayfront.

Traveling by car from Newport to Portland takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. While traveling from Newport, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Portland, ranging from highs of 70°F to lows of 51°F. You will have some time to spend on the 4th (Sat) before leaving for home.
