A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Timberline Lodge and Ski Area and Pittock Mansion. Step out of the city life by going to Multnomah Falls and Forest Park. Change things up with a short trip to Multnomah Falls in Troutdale (about 1 hour away). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Columbia River Highway, tour the pleasant surroundings at Wildwood Trail, get to know the fascinating history of Eastbank Esplanade, and look for gifts at Powell's City of Books.
