Love City

The gateway to the island of Saint John, Cruz Bay represents the island's largest town, port, and commercial center.
Change things up with a short trip to Salt Pond Bay in Virgin Islands National Park (about 38 minutes away). Next up on the itinerary: head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, trek along Ram Head Trail, tour the pleasant surroundings at Maho Bay Beach, and contemplate the long history of Annaberg Sugar Plantation.

To find photos, other places to visit, more things to do, and more tourist information, refer to the Cruz Bay trip itinerary planner.

Boston, USA to Cruz Bay is an approximately 8-hour combination of flight and ferry. The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Atlantic Standard Time is 1 hour. In January, Cruz Bay is much hotter than Boston - with highs of 84°F and lows of 73°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.

With two thirds of St. John designated as a national park, the smallest of the U.S. Virgin Islands is also the least developed, lacking an airport and cruise ship docks. Although well connected to its more commercialized neighbor, St. Thomas, St. John makes it easy to get away from crowds and enjoy pristine white-sand beaches. On a trip to St. John you can spend your days snorkeling or kayaking, explore the verdant hills of the national park, or head to Cruz Bay, the islands largest town, for excellent dining and shopping.
