Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
On the 21st (Wed), get engrossed in the history at Holocaust Museum Houston, then engage your brain at Cockrell Butterfly Center, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Rothko Chapel, and finally explore the world behind art at The Menil Collection. On your second day here, see the interesting displays at Houston Museum District, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Glenwood Cemetery, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, and finally admire the sheer force of Water Wall.
