Munising — 1 night

Munising is a city on the southern shore of Lake Superior on the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. Kick off your visit on the 30th (Thu): take in the dramatic scenery at Wagner Falls and then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports. On your second day here, explore the activities along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and then take in the dramatic natural features at Miners Castle Rock.

Detroit to Munising is an approximately 4-hour combination of flight and taxi. You can also drive; or do a combination of train, bus, and car. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Detroit in June; daily highs in Munising reach 68°F and lows reach 49°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to drive to Saint Ignace.

Saint Ignace — 3 nights

Saint Ignace, usually written as St. Kids will appreciate attractions like Soo Locks and Castle Rock. Get out of town with these interesting Saint Ignace side-trips: Sault Ste. Marie (Museum Ship Valley Camp & George Kemp Marina), Tahquamenon Falls State Park (in Paradise) and Oswald's Bear Ranch (in Newberry). There's still lots to do: take in the views from Mackinac Bridge and take in the waterfront at Huron Boardwalk.

You can drive from Munising to Saint Ignace in 2.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi and bus. In July, daily temperatures in Saint Ignace can reach 73°F, while at night they dip to 58°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Mon) so you can ride a ferry to Mackinac Island.
