The Ski Capital of the East

Stowe bustles in winter when skiers and snowboarders flock here to challenge themselves on the long, steep trails careening down Vermont's tallest peak, Mt.
Kids will enjoy Burlington Bike Path and ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. Explore Stowe's surroundings by going to Shelburne (Shelburne Farms & Shelburne Museum) and Burlington (Church Street Marketplace & Waterfront Park). There's lots more to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Stowe Recreation Path, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Mansfield State Forest, and take in the dramatic scenery at Bingham Falls.

Plattsburgh to Stowe is an approximately 2-hour car ride. In August, daily temperatures in Stowe can reach 78°F, while at night they dip to 55°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Thu) so you can go by car to Quechee.

Quechee — 1 night

Quechee is a census-designated place and one of five unincorporated villages in the town of Hartford, Windsor County, Vermont, United States. On the 5th (Fri), experience rural life at Sugarbush Farm, snap pictures at Taftsville Covered Bridge, then get curious at Montshire Museum of Science, and finally take in breathtaking views at Quechee Gorge.

You can drive from Stowe to Quechee in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi. August in Quechee sees daily highs of 81°F and lows of 56°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Manchester.

Manchester is a town in, and one of two shire towns (county seats) of, Bennington County, Vermont, United States. Bring the kids along to Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home and North Meadow Farm. Venture out of the city with trips to Bennington (Bennington Museum, Bennington Battle Monument, &more), Ludlow (Camp Plymouth State Park & Buttermilk Falls) and Vermont Country Store (in Weston). It doesn't end there: admire the sheer force of Lye Brook Falls and take in the awesome beauty at Bromley Mountain.
