Nicknamed the "Emerald City" because of its abundant evergreen trees, Seattle is the cultural and business center of the Pacific Northwest, as well as a popular holiday destination.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Fri): wander the streets of Pike Place Market, take in the exciting artwork at Chihuly Garden and Glass, and then take in panoramic vistas at Space Needle. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: examine the collection at The Museum of Flight, then look for all kinds of wild species at Mercer Slough Nature Park, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Snoqualmie Falls.

Salt Lake City to Seattle is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. The time zone difference moving from Mountain Standard Time to Pacific Standard Time is minus 1 hour. Traveling from Salt Lake City in August, things will get a bit cooler in Seattle: highs are around 80°F and lows about 61°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Sat) early enough to fly to Friday Harbor.

Getting from Seattle to Friday Harbor by flight takes about an hour. Other options: ride a ferry; or do a combination of flight, taxi, and ferry. In August, Friday Harbor is slightly colder than Seattle - with highs of 74°F and lows of 51°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) so you can catch the ferry to Anacortes.
