Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Family-friendly places like Lake George and Boat Tours & Water Sports will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lake George: Square Eddy Expeditions (in North Creek), Natural Stone Bridge and Caves (in Pottersville) and Ticonderoga (Fort Ticonderoga & Star Trek Original Series Set Tour). There's lots more to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Prospect Mountain, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, kick back and relax at Schroon Lake Town Beach, and stroll through Million Dollar Beach.

Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Kids will appreciate attractions like Mirror Lake and The Wild Center. Go for a jaunt from Lake Placid to Keeseville to see Ausable Chasm about 52 minutes away. There's much more to do: take some stellar pictures from Olympic Ski Jump Complex, take in the awesome beauty at Whiteface Mountain, enjoy the sand and surf at Wilmington Town Beach, and have fun at Lake Placid Olympic Museum.
