Lake George

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Kids will enjoy Lake George and Square Eddy Expeditions. Step out of Lake George to go to Pottersville and see Natural Stone Bridge and Caves, which is approximately 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: take a memorable tour with Tours, make a splash at The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and find something for the whole family at Magic Forest.

To find more things to do, reviews, maps, and tourist information, you can read our Lake George trip itinerary builder tool.
