Lake George

— 3 nights

Queen of the American Lakes

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.
Kids will enjoy Lake George and The Great Escape & Hurricane Harbor. Explore Lake George's surroundings by going to Square Eddy Expeditions (in North Creek) and Natural Stone Bridge and Caves (in Pottersville). There's still lots to do: take a memorable tour with Tours, get engrossed in the history at The Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration, look for all kinds of wild species at Prospect Mountain, and take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback.
