Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. Step off the beaten path and head to Mount Marcy and Adirondack Mountains. Take a break from the city and head to Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails and Cobble Hill. Chicago to Lake Placid is an approximately 15.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car; or drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Chicago to Lake Placid. In June, Lake Placid is little chillier than Chicago - with highs of 71°F and lows of 46°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sun) so you can go by car to Lake George.

A playground for America’s wealthy families, Lake George was nicknamed "Queen of the American Lakes." While these families often stayed in private country houses, a tourism industry built up around them in the early 20th century facilitated by two YMCAs.

Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): get outside with Square Eddy Expeditions, relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Schroon Lake Town Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 16th (Tue): stop by Lake George Olive Oil Co., grab your bike and head to Warren County Bikeway, then tee off at Gooney Golf, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Prospect Mountain.

You can drive from Lake Placid to Lake George in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Lake Placid in June, with highs in Lake George at 77°F and lows at 54°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Tue) to allow time to drive to Old Forge.

Old Forge is a hamlet (and census-designated place) on New York State Route 28 in the town of Webb in Herkimer County, New York. On the 17th (Wed), steep yourself in history at Town of Webb Historic Association.
