Fairbanks — 1 night

With its strip malls and fast-food restaurants, Fairbanks appears a bit functional on first glance.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sun): head outdoors with Outdoor Activities. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Wedgewood Wildlife Sanctuary, stroll through Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, and then examine the collection at Bouchard's International Dog Mushing and Sled Museum.

Start off your visit on the 11th (Tue): get curious at Imaginarium Discovery Center, then see the interesting displays at Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, and then contemplate the waterfront views at Cook Inlet. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get engrossed in the history at Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum and then grab your bike and head to Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.

The City and Borough of Sitka, formerly Novo-Arkhangelsk, or New Archangel under Russian rule, is a unified city-borough located on Baranof Island and the southern half of Chichagof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of the Pacific Ocean (part of the Alaska Panhandle), in the U.S. state of Alaska. Kick off your visit on the 14th (Fri): tour the pleasant surroundings at Alaska Raptor Center, see the interesting displays at Sheldon Jackson Museum, then admire the landmark architecture of Russian Bishop's House, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral.

The narrow city of Ketchikan clings to the bluffs that form Revillagigedo Island's southwestern shore.
