Phoenix is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): take in the exciting artwork at Zelma Basha Salmeri Gallery. You can drive from Phoenix to Sedona in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a shuttle. Prepare for slightly colder weather when traveling from Phoenix in September: high temperatures in Sedona hover around 85°F and lows are around 63°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) so you can go by car to Williams.

A tiny town with big tourist appeal, Williams lies on one of the first highways ever built in America, the iconic "Route 66." The town boasts many inns, motels, restaurants, and shops, although its most important feature is serving as the southern terminus of a scenic railway leading to the area's most famous tourist attraction, the World Heritage-listed Grand Canyon.

Traveling by car from Sedona to Williams takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Sedona in September; daily highs in Williams reach 74°F and lows reach 47°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu) early enough to go by car to Page.

Originally little more than a simple camp constructed to house workers who built a nearby dam on the Colorado River, Page is now a popular stop for travelers preparing a trip to Arizona's canyon country.

Kick off your visit on the 4th (Fri): get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, then take in breathtaking views at Antelope Canyon, then take in the dramatic natural features at Horseshoe Bend, and finally take in the views from Navajo Bridge.

You can drive from Williams to Page in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. In October, Page is somewhat warmer than Williams - with highs of 73°F and lows of 51°F. On the 5th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading back home.
