Land of the Sky

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Biltmore Winery at Antler Hill Village and Soco Falls. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Asheville Pinball Museum, appreciate the history behind Thomas Wolfe Memorial, view the masterpieces at Lexington Glassworks, and meet the residents at Western North Carolina Nature Center.

Atlanta to Asheville is an approximately 4-hour car ride. You can also fly; or do a combination of subway, bus, and car. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Atlanta in December, with highs in Asheville at 54°F and lows at 35°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Savannah.

The Hostess City of the South

Georgia's oldest city, Savannah displays its colonial history proudly on every corner.
Visiting Skidaway Island State Park and Audubon Newhall Preserve will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Webb Military Museum and Green-Meldrim House. And it doesn't end there: walk around Lafayette Square, contemplate the long history of Andrew Low House, and get interesting insight from Tours.

Traveling by car from Asheville to Savannah takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a bus. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Asheville in December: high temperatures in Savannah hover around 66°F and lows are around 47°F.
