8 days in Asheville Itinerary

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.

Attractions like Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum and Ghost & Vampire Tours make great kid-friendly stops. Step off the beaten path and head to Mount Mitchell State Park and Elijah Mountain Gem Mine. Venture out of the city with trips to Oconaluftee Islands Park (in Cherokee), Gatlinburg (Fowler's Clay Works, Rowdy Bear Mountain, &more) and Pisgah Forest (Looking Glass Falls & Sliding Rock). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at The Folk Art Center, admire the masterpieces at Downtown Asheville Art District, shop like a local with Lexington Glassworks, and relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.
