Auburn is the county seat of Placer County, California. Change things up with these side-trips from Auburn: Ironstone Vineyards (in Murphys), Truckee River Bike Trail (in Tahoe City) and Empire Mine State Historic Park (in Grass Valley). Start off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): don't miss a visit to Cadillac Ranch, don't miss a visit to Second Amendment Cowboy, then take a stroll through U.S. Route 66 - Sixth Street Historic District, and finally admire all the interesting features of Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West. On the next day, don't miss a visit to The Charles Goodnight Historical Center, explore the stunning scenery at Palo Duro Canyon State Park, and then examine the collection at Jack Sisemore Traveland RV Museum.
