Your day by day itinerary now includes Safari West. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Cable Car Museum and Ferry Building Marketplace. On the 11th (Thu), admire the sheer force of Vernal Fall, then take in the dramatic natural features at North Dome, and then cruise along Tioga Pass. On the 12th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the striking landscape at Glacier Point, then get great views at Washburn Point, then get great views at Yosemite, Tunnel View, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Yosemite Falls.

Drive from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park in 4 hours. Traveling from San Francisco in August, you will find days in Yosemite National Park are a bit warmer (81°F), and nights are little chillier (43°F). Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Fri) early enough to travel to San Simeon.

San Simeon

When you arrive in tiny San Simeon, which lies halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, you can see why William Randolph Hearst chose this coastal locale for his famous hilltop castle.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Sat): stop by Friends of the Elephant Seal Visitor Center and Gift Shop, look for all kinds of wild species at Piedras Blancas, and then explore the historical opulence of Hearst Castle.

Drive from Yosemite National Park to San Simeon in 5.5 hours. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Yosemite National Park in August, with highs in San Simeon at 94°F and lows at 55°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Sat) to allow time to drive to Los Angeles.
