When you arrive in tiny San Simeon, which lies halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, you can see why William Randolph Hearst chose this coastal locale for his famous hilltop castle.
Popular historic sites such as Hearst Castle and Piedras Blancas Light Station are in your itinerary. Get outdoors at Moonstone Beach and Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Piedras Blancas, enjoy the sea views from Piedras Blancas Light House Lens, tour the pleasant surroundings at William Randolph Hearst Memorial Beach, and identify plant and animal life at Friends of the Elephant Seal Visitor Center and Gift Shop.
