Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Get out of town with these interesting Denver side-trips: Vail Mountain Resort (in Vail) and Main Street (in Breckenridge). Traveling from Estes Park in February, you will find days in Denver are slightly colder (45°F), and nights are about the same (21°F).
