Chattanooga

Dynamo of Dixie

Once saddled with the reputation of being one of the country's dirtiest cities, Chattanooga now boasts a pedestrian-friendly downtown with a network of leafy waterfront trails and free electric shuttles.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Little River Canyon National Preserve and Tellus Science Museum. Museum-lovers will appreciate Booth Western Art Museum and Hunter Museum of American Art. Change things up with these side-trips from Chattanooga: Cascade Hollow Distilling Co., Home of George Dickel (in Tullahoma), Lynchburg Winery (in Lynchburg) and Cloudland Canyon State Park (in Rising Fawn). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Coker Museum, take in the history at Chickamauga Battlefield, admire the sheer force of Fall Creek Falls, and admire the majestic nature at Booker T. Washington State Park.

In March, daily temperatures in Chattanooga can reach 63°F, while at night they dip to 42°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
