Mile-High City

Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Kids will appreciate attractions like Garden of the Gods and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Venture out of the city with trips to Hidee Gold Mine (in Central City), Idaho Springs (River Rafting & Tubing & Summit Lake Park) and Horseback Riding Tours (in Estes Park). And it doesn't end there: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Evans, admire the striking features of Downtown Aquarium, see the sky in a new way at Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and explore and take pictures at Mount Evans Scenic Byway.
