Aptly nicknamed the "Mile-High City," Denver sits at an altitude of 1,600 m (5,280 ft) above sea level, located right where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains.
Get in touch with nature at Mount Evans and Dinosaur Ridge. Kids will enjoy Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center and Carousel of Happiness. Explore Denver's surroundings by going to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (in Commerce City), Evergreen (Evergreen Lake & Alderfer/Three Sisters Park) and Mini Incline (in Castle Rock). There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Cherry Creek State Park, hike along Devil's Backbone Trail, test your team's savvy at popular escape rooms, and admire the majestic nature at Roxborough State Park.
