Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sat): test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, admire the masterpieces at Knoxville Museum of Art, and then stroll around World's Fair Park. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the natural beauty at UT Gardens, then stroll around High Ground Park & River Bluff Wildlife Area, then get engrossed in the history at East Tennesse Historical Society, and finally don't miss a visit to Market Square.

Newark to Knoxville is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and bus. When traveling from Newark in January, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Knoxville: temperatures range from 47°F by day to 29°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Tellico Plains.

Tellico Plains — 2 nights

On the 16th (Mon), admire the sheer force of Bald River Falls, then relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Benton Falls Hike. On the next day, get a dose of the wild on The Lost Sea Adventure, then admire the majestic nature at Fort Loudoun State Park, and then identify plant and animal life at Citico Wildlife Wilderness.

Drive from Knoxville to Tellico Plains in 1.5 hours. In January, daytime highs in Tellico Plains are 48°F, while nighttime lows are 27°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 17th (Tue) early enough to go by car to Chattanooga.

Dynamo of Dixie

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Tennessee Aquarium and Raccoon Mountain Caverns. Step out of Chattanooga to go to Ocoee and see River Rafting & Tubing, which is approximately 54 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the fascinating underground world of Ruby Falls, examine the collection at Creative Discovery Museum, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, and ponder the design of Coolidge Park.
