Empire is a village in Leelanau County in the U.S. Start off your visit on the 10th (Sat): have a few drinks at Lake Ann Brewing Company. Here are some ideas for day two: cruise along Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, visit a coastal fixture at Point Betsie Lighthouse, and then stroll through Lake Michigan Beach Park.

Saugatuck is a city in Allegan County in the U.S. Kids will enjoy Oval Beach and Holland State Park Beach. Step out of Saugatuck with an excursion to Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon--about 1h 10 min away. There's much more to do: get in on the family fun at Nelis' Dutch Village, stroll around Windmill Island Gardens, tour the pleasant surroundings at Mount Baldhead Park, and look for gifts at American Spoon.

Getting from Empire to Saugatuck by car takes about 4 hours. Other options: fly; or do a combination of taxi and bus. In August in Saugatuck, expect temperatures between 80°F during the day and 60°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Petoskey.

Petoskey is a city and coastal resort community in the U.S. Start off your visit on the 16th (Fri): delve into the distant past with Colonial Michilimackinac, take in the views from Mackinac Bridge, and then admire the majestic nature at Petoskey State Park. On the next day, stop by Historic Gaslight District, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Little Traverse Wheelway, and then grab your bike and head to North Western State Trail.
