Florida’s mecca of fun in the sun, the lively tropical metropolis of Miami is one of the world’s top vacation spots.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Thu): take in nature's colorful creations at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, then have fun at Lock & Load Miami, and then browse the different shops at Bayside Marketplace. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 18th (Fri): examine the collection at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, then stroll through South Beach, then take a stroll through Lincoln Road, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St Patrick Catholic Church.

Austin to Miami is an approximately 5.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Austin to Miami, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Austin in December, plan for a bit warmer days and much hotter nights in Miami: temperatures range from 81°F by day to 68°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to travel to Everglades National Park.

Largest Subtropical Wilderness in the United States

A vast expanse of pristine wetlands, Everglades National Park holds the distinction of being the largest tropical wilderness in the U.S. Overflow from Lake Okeechobee into the Florida Bay formed these wetlands, which are home to manatees, American crocodiles, Florida panthers, and an array of wading birds, land birds, and birds of prey.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): hike along Anhinga Trail and then identify plant and animal life at Mahogany Hammock.

You can take a train from Miami to Everglades National Park in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In December, daytime highs in Everglades National Park are 80°F, while nighttime lows are 71°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Sat) early enough to take a bus to Key Largo.

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Parasailing & Paragliding as well as Swim with Dolphins. Start off your visit on the 20th (Sun): look for all kinds of wild species at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, take a tour of African Queen Canal Cruise, then get close to the beloved marine mammals with a swim-with-the-dolphins experience, and finally see what you can catch with a fishing tour. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 21st (Mon): immerse yourself in nature at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and then glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour.

Traveling by bus from Everglades National Park to Key Largo takes 2.5 hours. Traveling from Everglades National Park in December, expect a bit cooler with lows of 66°F in Key Largo. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) to allow enough time to drive to Key West.

Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Southernmost Point, Mallory Square, Dolphin & Whale Watching, and other attractions. On the 22nd (Tue), don't miss a visit to Duval Street, see the interesting displays at The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, browse the exhibits of Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum, glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour, then don't miss a visit to Southernmost Point, and finally take in the waterfront at Mallory Square. Drive from Key Largo to Key West in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. December in Key West sees daily highs of 79°F and lows of 71°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 23rd (Wed) to allow time to travel back home.
