Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Key West is known for wildlife, adventure, and museums. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: see the interesting displays at The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, take a memorable drive along The Overseas Highway, kick back and relax at Fort Zachary Taylor, and stroll the grounds of Key West Cemetery.

Fresno to Key West is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 3 hours traveling from Fresno to Key West. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Key West when traveling from Fresno in May, with lows around 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to drive to Marathon.

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Fri): identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas, then look for all kinds of wild species at The Turtle Hospital, and then kick back and relax at Bahia Honda State Park. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Crane Point Museum & Nature Center, kick back and relax at Sombrero Beach, then shop like a local with Shady Palm Art Gallery & Photography, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at National Key Deer Refuge.

Traveling by car from Key West to Marathon takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In May, daily temperatures in Marathon can reach 88°F, while at night they dip to 77°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sat) so you can drive to Key Largo.

Diving Capital of the World

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.
On the 10th (Sun), get interesting insight from Tours, then observe the fascinating underwater world at Island Dolphin Care, then identify plant and animal life at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, and finally look for gifts at florida keys key lime products. On the next day, immerse yourself in nature at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
