Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
Bring the kids along to The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum and Mallory Square. Next up on the itinerary: identify plant and animal life at Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, explore the different monuments and memorials at Key West Cemetery, glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour, and don't miss a visit to Southernmost Point.

Orlando to Key West is an approximately 4.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Orlando in May, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Key West, with lows around 77°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Marathon.

Heart of the Florida Keys

A tiny city just 16 km (10 mi) long, Marathon is spread across several islands in the middle of the Florida Keys.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Bahia Honda State Park and Sombrero Beach. There's much more to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, get lost in a book at Monroe County Public Library, enjoy the sand and surf at Sunset Park Beach, and look for all kinds of wild species at Dolphin Research Center.
