Venice of America

Known as the "Venice of America" because of its extensive network of navigable waterways, Fort Lauderdale welcomes over 10 million annual visitors, most of them attracted by the city's popular beaches and marinas.
Explore hidden gems such as Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park and Lion Country Safari. Kids will appreciate attractions like Las Olas Beach and Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Haulover Beach Park (in Sunny Isles Beach), Surfside Beach (in Surfside) and South Beach (in Miami Beach). On the 6th (Thu), enjoy a perfect day by the water at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. There's lots more to do: walk around Sugar Sand Park, stroll through Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, enjoy the sand and surf at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, and engage your brain at Museum of Discovery and Science.

For other places to visit, more things to do, traveler tips, and tourist information, refer to the Fort Lauderdale trip itinerary planner.

In August, plan for daily highs up to 90°F, and evening lows to 79°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
