The Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains

Nestled in the lush, wooded forests of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gatlinburg is Tennessee’s premier mountain resort destination.
Visit Noah Bud Ogle Cabin and Little Greenbrier School for their historical value. You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies and Zipline. There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Titanic Museum Attraction, steep yourself in history at Walker Sisters' Cabin, look for all kinds of wild species at Roaring Fork, and take in the exciting artwork at Paul Murray Gallery.

Georgia's Alpine Village

A taste of Bavaria right in the heart of Georgia's "Historic High Country," Helen houses just 400 residents but hosts over 200 shops that sell everything from handmade sweaters to Christmas ornaments.
On the 16th (Wed), admire the sheer force of Anna Ruby Falls, then steep yourself in history at Hardman Farm, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Brasstown Bald. On your second day here, look for gifts at Hansel and Gretel Candy Kitchen, relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour, and then see the interesting displays at Charlemagne's Kingdom.

You can drive from Gatlinburg to Helen in 3.5 hours. June in Helen sees daily highs of 84°F and lows of 62°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Thu) so you can drive to Atlanta.
