The glaciers from which Glacier National Park takes its name mostly dissipated eons ago, but they left behind a scoured landscape of high and steep mountain peaks, sparkling lakes, lush alpine meadows, and thick forests.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Sat): explore and take pictures at Going-to-the-Sun Road. On your second day here, get great views at Jackson Glacier Overlook and then take in the dramatic natural features at Grinnell Glacier.

Memphis to Glacier National Park is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and car. The time zone difference moving from Central Standard Time to Mountain Standard Time is minus 1 hour. When traveling from Memphis in May, plan for slightly colder days in Glacier National Park, with highs around 67°F, while nights are much colder with lows around 38°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Custer.

Custer

Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Get out of town with these interesting Custer side-trips: Presidential Trail (in Keystone) and Mammoth Site of Hot Springs (in Hot Springs). And it doesn't end there: pause for some photo ops at Mount Rushmore National Memorial, go for a walk through Breezy Point Picnic Area, admire the majestic nature at Custer State Park, and view the masterpieces at Insideout.

Getting from Glacier National Park to Custer by flight takes about 8.5 hours. Other options: drive; or do a combination of car, bus, and taxi. While traveling from Glacier National Park, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Custer, ranging from highs of 59°F to lows of 37°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu) early enough to go by car to Wall.

Wall is a town in Pennington County, South Dakota, United States. On the 4th (Fri), buy something for everyone on your list at Wall Drug, take in the dramatic natural features at Badlands Wall, then admire all the interesting features of Loop Road, and finally hike along Castle Trail. On the next day, explore the striking landscape at Big Badlands Overlook, then steep yourself in history at Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Yellow Mounds Overlook.

You can drive from Custer to Wall in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. In June, Wall is a bit warmer than Custer - with highs of 83°F and lows of 54°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 5th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel back home.
