Hartford is the capital of the U.S. state of Connecticut. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hartford: Foxwoods Resort Casino (in Mashantucket), The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home (in Lenox) and Mystic Seaport Museum (in Mystic). Augusta is the capital of the U.S. state of Maine and the county seat of Kennebec County.The city's population was 19,136 at the 2010 census, making it the third-smallest state capital (after Montpelier, Vermont and Pierre, South Dakota) and the ninth-largest city in Maine. Explore Augusta's surroundings by going to Cap'n Fish's Cruises (in Boothbay Harbor) and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (in Bristol).
