Bayou City

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Get some historical perspective at Glenwood Cemetery and The Chapel of St. Basil. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Houston: Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah) and Railean Rum Distillery (in San Leon). And it doesn't end there: stroll through Hermann Park, stroll around Memorial Park, indulge your thirst for a good beer at Saint Arnold Brewing Company, and examine the collection at Space Center Houston.

For other places to visit, reviews, and tourist information, read our Houston trip planning site.

The Route module shows you travel options from your home to Houston. Expect a daytime high around 84°F in May, and nighttime lows around 68°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Mon) to allow time to travel to Yellowstone National Park.
