Home Of Mount Rushmore

Fewer than 400 people call Keystone home year-round, but the population explodes in summer when crowds flock to nearby Mount Rushmore.
Step off the beaten path and head to Horse Thief Lake and Ardmore. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Keystone: Hot Springs (Angostura Recreation Area & Pioneer Museum) and Custer (Four Mile Old West Town & Custer County 1881 Courthouse). Pack the 5th (Wed) with family-friendly diversions at Rush Mountain Adventure Park. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Keystone Historical Museum, stop by Professor Samuel's Portrait Emporium, learn about winemaking at Twisted Pine Winery, and get a new perspective on nature at The Museum @ Black Hills Institute.

To find photos, other places to visit, ratings, and tourist information, read Keystone trip planning tool.

In April, daily temperatures in Keystone can reach 50°F, while at night they dip to 27°F.
