Los Alamos

Los Alamos is a town in Los Alamos County, New Mexico, United States that is recognized as the birthplace of the first atomic bomb––the primary objective of the Manhattan Project by Los Alamos National Laboratory during World War II. Get in touch with nature at Ojito Wilderness and Jemez National Recreation Area. Visit Casa Abril Vineyards & Winery Tasting Room and Santa Fe National Forest for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Cochiti Lake (Cochiti Lake & Cochiti Golf Club), Cerrillos (Turquoise Trail Trading Post, Casa Grande Trading Post & Petting Zoo, & more) and Madrid (Connie's Photo Park & Shugarman's Little Chocolate Shop). There's lots more to do: take in breathtaking views at Bandelier National Monument, brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Don Quixote Distillery & Winery, take some stellar pictures from White Rock Overlook Park, and pause for some photo ops at Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer and General Leslie Statues.

Expect a daytime high around 82°F in June, and nighttime lows around 60°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
