Wailea — 6 nights

Wailea is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. We've included these beaches for you: Wailea Beach and Ahihi Bay. Step off the beaten path and head to La Perouse Bay and Mokapu Beach Park. Take a break from Wailea with a short trip to Sliding Sands Trail in Haleakala National Park, about 38 minutes away. There's lots more to do: kick back and relax at Po'olenalena Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Keawakapu Beach, immerse yourself in nature at Makena State Park, and learn about winemaking at Maui Wine, Ulupalakua Vineyards.

To see more things to do, reviews, ratings, and other tourist information, refer to the Wailea visit planning website.

Detroit to Wailea is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. Traveling from Detroit to Wailea, you'll gain 5 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Detroit in September, expect Wailea to be a bit warmer, temps between 90°F and 72°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly back home.

The Valley Isle
The second largest of the eight major Hawaiian Islands, Maui features a rugged landscape ranging from high mountain peaks to deep valleys. Half of Maui lies within 8 km (5 mi) of the coastline, and most tourists come for the sandy beaches, many of them backed by fashionable resorts offering every modern convenience. Diversity of tourist attractions is Maui's major allure, with each of the island's shores offering a different set of vacation ideas. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel with sea turtles, or hike over the otherworldly landscapes of the world's biggest dormant volcano. A foodie paradise, the island also features dozens of small farms and gourmet restaurants.
