Traveling from West Glacier in August, expect Gardiner to be a bit cooler, temps between 75°F and 37°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Thu) early enough to go by car to Big Sky.

Big Sky — 3 nights

Big Sky is a census-designated place (CDP) in Gallatin and Madison counties in southwestern Montana. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Big Sky: West Yellowstone (Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center & Yellowstone Big Gun Fun). There's still lots to do: take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, take in the awesome beauty at Lone Peak, hike along Ousel Falls Trail, and relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.

You can drive from Gardiner to Big Sky in 2.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of bus and shuttle. August in Big Sky sees daily highs of 75°F and lows of 37°F at night. On the 7th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can fly back home.
