Most visitors take a trip to Nags Head to enjoy the beach, but this Outer Banks town offers more than just waterside entertainment.
Take a break from the city and head to Jockey's Ridge State Park and Fishing Charters & Tours. Kids will appreciate attractions like Nature & Wildlife Tours and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Change things up with these side-trips from Nags Head: Pea Island Art Gallery, Salvo, NC (in Salvo), Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station Historic Site & Museum (in Rodanthe) and Corolla (Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum, Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education, & more). There's much more to do: enjoy the sea views from Bodie Island Lighthouse, take in the waterfront at Jennette's Pier, contemplate the long history of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and stroll around Dowdy Park.

For maps, other places to visit, more things to do, and other tourist information, refer to the Nags Head online trip planner .

In April in Nags Head, expect temperatures between 66°F during the day and 51°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
