Stowe bustles in winter when skiers and snowboarders flock here to challenge themselves on the long, steep trails careening down Vermont's tallest peak, Mt.

North Conway combines colonial New England architecture with outlet shops selling goods from some of the world's most recognizable brands, all set amid the scenery of the White Mountains.
On the 13th (Tue), look and learn at Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center, take a peaceful walk through White Mountain National Forest, and then cruise along Kancamagus Highway. Here are some ideas for day two: take in the dramatic scenery at Diana's Baths, admire the sheer force of Glen Ellis Falls, and then surround yourself with nature on Bretton Woods Canopy Tour.

Drive from Stowe to North Conway in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a bus. Traveling from Stowe in October, plan for a bit warmer nights in North Conway, with lows around 45°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Wed) so you can drive to Acadia National Park.

The first national park east of the Mississippi River, Acadia National Park draws visitors with its rugged landscape of ocean shoreline, low-slung granite mountains, dense woodlands, and pristine lakes.
On the 15th (Thu), grab your bike and head to Carriage Roads, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Cadillac Mountain, and then cruise along Park Loop Road.
