Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Take a break from the city and head to Chalmette National Historical Park and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at The National WWII Museum and Jackson Square. Venture out of the city with trips to Crosby Arboretum (in Picayune), Tammany Trace (in Covington) and Mandeville Trailhead Cultural Interpretive Center (in Mandeville). And it doesn't end there: don't miss a visit to French Quarter, get outside with Ultimate Swamp Adventures, see the interesting displays at Cabildo, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Garden District.
