The Big Easy

Known for its Creole cuisine, rich musical tradition, and nearby swamps and plantations, New Orleans is one of the nation's oldest cities.
Get a sense of the local culture at The National WWII Museum and Royal Street. Appreciate the collections at Rodrigue Studio and Tami Curtis Gallery. You'll find plenty of places to visit near New Orleans: Chauvin Sulpture Garden (in Chauvin), Tuxachanie Hiking Trail (in Saucier) and Houma (Mandalay National Wildlife Refuge, Pedestrian Bridge, &more). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Garden District, don't miss a visit to Ardoyne Plantation, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Audubon Zoo, and admire the masterpieces at Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane.

Take the guesswork out of planning a New Orleans vacation by using our trip itinerary maker.

Expect a daytime high around 59°F in January, and nighttime lows around 51°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
