The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Times Square are good opportunities to explore the local culture. 9/11 Memorial and American Museum of Natural History will appeal to museum buffs. And it doesn't end there: take in the pleasant sights at Central Park, examine the collection at New York Public Library, admire the masterpieces at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports.

Wichita to New York City is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Eastern Standard Time (EST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Wichita in June, expect nights in New York City to be about the same, around 65°F, while days are little chillier, around 80°F. Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Wed): ponder the design of Longwood Gardens, then take an in-depth tour of Independence Hall, and then appreciate the extensive heritage of Independence National Historical Park. The capital of the United States, the District of Columbia contains the lion's share of the country's most treasured monuments, memorials, and public museums.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Fri): get engrossed in the history at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, then steep yourself in history at Arlington National Cemetery, and then get a new perspective on nature at Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
