A trip to Corolla will add a bit of slow-paced fun to your Outer Banks holiday.
On the 25th (Sat), enjoy the sea views from Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum, then get a dose of the wild on a nature and wildlife tour, and then take in the dramatic natural features at Jockey's Ridge State Park. Keep things going the next day: glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, then get engrossed in the history at Wright Brothers National Memorial, then appreciate the history behind The Monument to a Century of Flight, and finally get some thrills out on the water with a waterskiing or jet-skiing adventure.

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
On the 28th (Tue), take a peaceful walk through DuPont State Recreational Forest, have some family-friendly fun at Pisgah Forest Gem Mine & Gifts, and then whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks. Here are some ideas for day two: take in nature's colorful creations at The North Carolina Arboretum and then admire all the interesting features of Blue Ridge Pkwy.

Getting from Charlotte to Asheville by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: fly; or do a combination of flight and car. Traveling from Charlotte in July, expect Asheville to be slightly colder, temps between 84°F and 65°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can drive to Cherokee.
