Ocracoke is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated town located at the southern end of Ocracoke Island, located entirely within Hyde County, North Carolina. Start off your visit on the 29th (Sat): enjoy the sand and surf at Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach.

Durham to Ocracoke is an approximately 6-hour combination of car and ferry. You can also do a combination of train, bus, car, and ferry; or do a combination of bus and ferry. When traveling from Durham in June, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Ocracoke: temperatures range from 83°F by day to 71°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sun) early enough to travel to Wilmington.

Traveling by combination of ferry and car from Ocracoke to Wilmington takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and bus. July in Wilmington sees daily highs of 89°F and lows of 73°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can travel to Cherokee.

Cherokee

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Kick off your visit on the 3rd (Wed): see the interesting displays at Museum of the Cherokee Indian, try your luck at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee, and then let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour.

Do a combination of flight and car from Wilmington to Cherokee in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Wilmington in July: high temperatures in Cherokee hover around 83°F and lows are around 62°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Wed) to allow time to drive to Asheville.

Asheville nestles between two major mountain ranges in the scenic western section of North Carolina.
Get in touch with nature at The North Carolina Arboretum and Zipline. Step out of Asheville with an excursion to Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards in Hendersonville--about 32 minutes away. There's lots more to do: indulge your thirst for a good beer at New Belgium Brewing Company, indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour, and take a memorable drive along Blue Ridge Parkway.
