Best known for its 1692 witch trials, Salem has a number of significant historical sites, a bustling downtown, and many witch-themed attractions.
Head to Crow Haven Corner and Western Avenue Studiosfor plenty of shopping. Escape the urban bustle at Dolphin & Whale Watching and Crane Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Salem side-trips: Gloucester (Hammond Castle, Fishermen's Memorial Monument, & more), Salisbury Rail Trail (in Salisbury) and Ipswich Ale Brewery (in Ipswich). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at The House of the Seven Gables, see the interesting displays at Salem Witch Museum, take an in-depth tour of Witch House, and admire the majestic nature at Halibut Point State Park.
