A big city with a small-town feel, Portland is home to the country's biggest rose test garden, perched on a hill overlooking downtown.
Step out of Portland with an excursion to Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville--about 56 minutes away. There's still lots to do: look for gifts at Powell's City of Books, see the interesting displays at Portland Art Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at International Rose Test Garden, and stroll around Hoyt Arboretum.
