A town that survives on the sea, Newport's population of just over 10,000 supports a healthy commercial fishing industry.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Tue): hike along Ocean to Bay Trail, then enjoy the sea views from Yaquina Head Lighthouse, then identify plant and animal life at Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Nye Beach. On your second day here, enjoy the sand and surf at Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area, then cruise along Cape Perpetua Visitor Center - Siuslaw National Forest, and then enjoy the sea views from Heceta Head Lighthouse.
